The only time I visited D.C. was 7 years ago with a student organization. We took a day trip up here from Reston so we can advocate for Career and Technical Education Programs. We were so successful in arranging meetings with our representatives that we never got a chance to do any actual sight seeing outside of the Senate and the House buildings. Over the next few years, D.C. remained on my #BucketList, but for one reason for another, I never made it back here.
A week ago, I realized that I had this upcoming #PTO without an actual getaway plan. So when I was a few too many glasses of wine in on my “self care” night, I reached out to a friend about crashing on his couch so I can visit for a long weekend. He agreed surprisingly easily, and the next thing I knew, I got myself a flight. Once I secured transportation and housing, I spent this past week reading and planning this trip. One part I forgot to plan for? The arrival day! The person I'm staying with is working for another few hours and all of my friends are on spring break. So here I am, sitting in DCA terminal B while sipping on a few of theses delicious Strawberry Smash.
I am so excited to share my journey to D.C. with you this weekend. Be on the lookout for a few additional posts covering some of my favorite topics:
